XABIER ANDUAGA

TENOR

Widely regarded as one of the most promising tenors of his generation, Xabier Anduaga was born in San Sebastián in 1995 and began his vocal training with the Orfeón Donostiarra. He studied at the Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco and continues to perfect his technique with his current teacher Elena Barbé. He has also taken masterclasses with figures such as Alberto Zedda, Ernesto Palacio and Juan Diego Flórez.

He made his operatic debut in 2016 at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro as Belfiore (Il viaggio a Reims), marking the start of a rapidly ascending international career. Since then he has sung at venues including Teatro Real, Wiener Staatsoper, Opéra National de Paris, Teatro Colón, Bayerische Staatsoper, Metropolitan Opera, Gran Teatre del Liceu and ABAO Bilbao Opera.

In 2019 he won both First Prize and the Zarzuela Prize at Operalia, and has since received the International Opera Award, the Ópera XXI Prize and Spain’s El Ojo Crítico Award.

In the 2024–25 season he made his debut as Alfredo (La traviata) at Teatro Real and Ópera de Las Palmas, and returned to the Bayerische Staatsoper (Lucia di Lammermoor, La fille du régiment), the Wiener Staatsoper (L’elisir d’amore) and the Liceu (La sonnambula), consolidating his reputation as one of today’s most sought-after tenors.
