Of Italian descent, tenor Michael Fabiano studied at the University of Michigan and the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. In 2014 he became the first singer to receive both the Beverly Sills Artist Award and the Richard Tucker Award in the same year.
He has sung at many of the world鈥檚 leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Real, San Francisco Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Royal Opera House, Staatsoper in Berlin and Vienna, Op茅ra de Paris, Gran Teatre del Liceu and Lyric Opera of Chicago. Among his most acclaimed roles are Don Jos茅 in Carmen at the Festival d鈥橝ix-en-Provence and the Metropolitan Opera; Poliuto at Glyndebourne; Calaf in Turandot in Rome, Vienna and Barcelona; Des Grieux in Manon in Vienna; Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly in San Francisco; Rodolfo in Luisa Miller in Naples; Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera and Manrico in Il trovatore in London.
Committed to musical education, he is co-founder of ArtSmart, a non-profit organisation providing free singing lessons with professional mentors to young people from underprivileged communities in the United States.
