MARCO ARMILIATO

Born in Genoa, Marco Armiliato is one of today’s most sought-after opera conductors. Since his 1995 debut at La Fenice with Il barbiere di Siviglia, and shortly after at the Vienna Staatsoper with Andrea Chénier, his career has taken him to the world’s leading opera houses: the Metropolitan Opera in New York (where he has conducted nearly 500 performances), Vienna Staatsoper (over 300 performances), Bayerische Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Royal Opera House, Opéra National de Paris, Opernhaus Zürich, Teatro Real, Gran Teatre del Liceu and La Scala.

In 2019 he was named Ehrenmitglied of the Vienna Staatsoper, and in 2022 he became Music Director of the Arena di Verona Festival.

His repertoire includes La bohème, Turandot, Tosca, Les contes d’Hoffmann, Aida, Simon Boccanegra, Andrea Chénier, Madama Butterfly, Manon Lescaut and Don Pasquale, performed in New York, Vienna, Munich, Verona, Zurich, Monte Carlo and Prague.

His discography features Verismo Arias with Renée Fleming (Grammy Award 2010) and Romantic Arias with Jonas Kaufmann (Diapason d’or 2009).
