LORENZO PASSERINI

A former trombonist, Lorenzo Passerini began his conducting career with the Orchestra Antonio Vivaldi, which he co-founded with composer Piergiorgio Ratti. Since 2018 he has led opera productions at theatres including the Sydney Opera House, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Real Madrid, Polish National Opera, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Teatro Massimo Palermo, Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse and Oper Köln. Recent engagements include a gala with Pretty Yende and the Antwerp Symphony at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, his ABAO Bilbao Opera debut (Roméo et Juliette), Aida for Opera Australia, Il barbiere di Siviglia at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Lucia di Lammermoor at Staatsoper Hamburg, Norma at Teatro di San Carlo, Les pêcheurs de perles in Paris, Cherubini’s Medea at Canadian Opera Company, La traviata in Cincinnati and Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Rossini Opera Festival. In 2024/25 he made debuts at Houston Grand Opera (La Cenerentola), the Tiroler Festspiele (I puritani), the Wiener Staatsoper (La bohème with the Wiener Philharmoniker) and the Gran Teatre del Liceu (La sonnambula). He was also appointed Chief Conductor of the Jyväskylä Sinfonia (Finland) for a three-year term from September 2024.
