Conductor Carlo Montanaro, former Music Director of the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw, has developed a strong international career in many of the world’s foremost opera houses. He has conducted at the Bayerische Staatsoper (La traviata, Aida, Tosca, L’elisir d’amore, Carmen), Opéra National de Paris (Il barbiere di Siviglia, La traviata, Tosca), Staatsoper Hamburg (Aida, Manon Lescaut, Turandot, Falstaff), San Francisco Opera (Carmen, La bohème), Teatro alla Scala (La traviata), Teatro di San Carlo (Lucia di Lammermoor), ABAO Bilbao Opera (Les contes d’Hoffmann), Oper Frankfurt, Palm Beach Opera, La Fenice, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Opera Australia, as well as the New National Theatre Tokyo and Korea National Opera.
In the symphonic field, he has worked with orchestras such as the WDR Symphony Orchestra in Cologne, the Orchestra dell’Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, and the symphony orchestras of Boston, Dallas, Cincinnati, Atlanta and Seattle.
In the 2024–25 season he conducted Manon at Hamburg State Opera, Rigoletto at Santa Fe Opera, Madama Butterfly at Staatsoper Berlin, Turandot at Lyric Opera of Kansas City and in concert with the Hungarian National Philharmonic, La bohème at Israeli Opera, and an Italian opera gala at the Klangvokal Festival in Dortmund.
