ROSETTA CUCCHI

Rosetta Cucchi studied at the “G. Rossini” Conservatory in Pesaro and the University of Bologna (DAMS), and obtained a master’s degree at the Accademia Pianistica in Imola. Winner of numerous competitions, she collaborated as pianist with the RAI Symphony Orchestra in Rome and accompanied artists such as Mariella Devia, Sonia Ganassi and Juan Diego Flórez, performing at venues including La Scala, Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome and Teatro Real in Madrid.

She made her debut as stage director and librettist with Il passo dell’anima and La scala di seta in Seville, beginning a career that has established her as one of the most innovative Italian directors of her generation. She has directed at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Teatro La Fenice, Rossini Opera Festival, Boston Lyric Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, among many others.

In 2023 and 2024 she presented L’amico Fritz, Eugene Onegin, Rossini’s Otello, Madama Butterfly, La Ciociara and Adriana Lecouvreur in international productions. She was invited to the Venice Biennale 2022 and nominated at the International Opera Awards as Best Director. From 2020 to the present she has served as Artistic Director of Wexford Festival Opera, and from 2005 to 2018 of the Arturo Toscanini Foundation.
