Set designer from Oviedo, Carmen Casta帽贸n began her career at Teatro Campoamor in 1992, signing productions such as Elektra, Un ballo in maschera, Marina and La verbena de la Paloma. She holds a PhD in Fine Arts, specialising in stage design with a dissertation developed at the Rome Opera House, supported by a grant from the Royal Academy of Spain.
Based in Italy since 1990, she works closely with the Milan-based studio GIO-Forma on opera productions directed by Davide Livermore, and is currently involved in the artistic design of the museum dedicated to Ezio Frigerio and Franca Squarciapino.
Since 1997 she has collaborated with numerous directors in theatres across Spain and abroad: Zaide in A Coru帽a, Carmen de los corrales in Buenos Aires and Italy, Dracula in Seville, Les Cenci in Madrid, La boh猫me in Bulgaria, Fidelio in Slovakia, Le nozze di Figaro in the USA, and Lucia di Lammermoor, Roberto Devereux and La traviata in Las Palmas, among many others.
Her collaboration with Emilio L贸pez began within Davide Livermore鈥檚 team and was later consolidated with designs for Carmen at the Quincena Musical de San Sebasti谩n and Anna Bolena at 脫pera de Oviedo.
