Pedro Bartolomé

Assistant to the Music Director and Director of the in-house band

Born in Burgos, Pedro Bartolomé holds advanced degrees in Clarinet and Conducting from the Eduardo Martínez Torner Conservatoire of Music in the Principality of Asturias, and a diploma in Music Education from the University of Burgos. His training as a conductor has been strongly shaped by Miguel Romea and Andrés Salado, and he has also followed the work of conductors such as Aldo Ceccato, Hans Leenders, Timothy Redmond, Pablo González and Rossen Milanov. He began his operatic career as assistant to Daniel Oren, Riccardo Frizza, Nicola Luisotti, Francesco Ivan Ciampa, Yves Abel, Henrik Nánási and Pedro Halffter, on productions including Tosca, Lucia di Lammermoor, Les pêcheurs de perles, Rigoletto, La bohème and Jérusalem. He has collaborated with ABAO Bilbao Opera, Teatro de la Maestranza, ACO Gran Canaria, Teatro Real Madrid and Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. As a conductor, he has led titles such as Così fan tutte in Bilbao and Norma in Seville. In the symphonic field, he has conducted orchestras including the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, Oviedo Filarmonía, the Navarra Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of the Opéra Royal de Wallonie. In 2022 he founded the Festival Lírico de Burgos and he is music and artistic director of the Joven Orquesta Sinfónica de Burgos. He will shortly conduct Rigoletto at Teatro de la Maestranza.
