Oscar Frosio

Drawn to theatre and music from an early age, Oscar Frosio trained in Lighting Design at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala with Marco Filibeck and Valerio Tiberi. After gaining experience with the programming team at Teatro alla Scala, he began his professional career in 2018 as a lighting programmer and assistant lighting designer for opera, theatre, events, fashion and exhibitions. In 2019 he began an ongoing collaboration with Fiammetta Baldiserri and, from 2020, with Marco Filibeck, taking part in productions such as Turandot at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the revival of La Fura dels Baus’ Norma at the Seoul Arts Center. He was a member of the K5600 Design collective with Valerio Tiberi, working mainly in opera on productions directed by Nicola Berloffa, and has also collaborated with lighting designers including Emanuele Agliati. Recent projects include Tosca, staged by Massimo Popolizio; Jeanne Dark, directed by Valentino Villa, at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; and collaborations with several stage directors in Italy and abroad. Since 2022 he has been responsible for the lighting design of Sala Giardino and Palabiennale for the Venice Biennale. He teaches Lighting Technology and Advanced Lighting Programming at the Accademia Teatro alla Scala.
