Niina Keitel *
Finnish mezzo-soprano Niina Keitel has built a distinguished international career at major theatres and festivals including the Opéra national de Paris, Oper Frankfurt, Nationaltheater Mannheim, Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Finnish National Opera, Royal Swedish Opera, Royal Danish Opera, Oper Köln, Staatstheater Darmstadt, Savonlinna Opera Festival, Daegu International Opera Festival, Oper Bonn and Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari. A highly versatile singer, she has performed more than fifty mezzo-soprano roles, with Carmen among her signature parts. Other important roles in her repertoire include Octavian, Judit and Santuzza. Her dark-hued mezzo and wide vocal range have made her a sought-after artist in opera, concert and lied alike. Her broad concert repertoire extends from oratorio and song to works such as Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde, Sibelius’s Kullervo and Verdi’s Requiem. Alongside her singing career, she served as artistic director of the Lemi Music Festival from 2013 to 2018.
