Nana Dzidziguri *

Mezzo-soprano

Georgian mezzo-soprano Nana Dzidziguri studied opera singing at the V. Sarajishvili State Conservatoire in Tbilisi and furthered her training in masterclasses with Montserrat Caballé, Mirella Freni, Enzo Dara, Badri Maisuradze and Paata Burchuladze. Winner of first prize at the Voci Verdiane International Singing Competition in Busseto and of the Premio Roma, she was also a finalist at the Montserrat Caballé Competition and at the international competition of the Accademia del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. She began her career as a member of Tbilisi State Opera, where her roles included Carmen, Amneris, Naana in Abesalom and Eteri and Nano in Daisi. She has since developed a broad international career, with engagements at houses including the Prague National Opera, Latvian National Opera in Riga, Zurich Opera House, Bonn Opera, Staatstheater Oldenburg, Theater Osnabrück, Theater Münster, Theater Lübeck, Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden and the Bayreuth Festival. Her repertoire includes Carmen, Amneris, Ulrica, Dalila, Fenena, Federica, Maddalena, Schwertleite, Siegrune, Jezibaba, Mistress Quickly and the Old Lady in Candide. Recent appearances include Siegrune at the Bayreuth Festival and in Oldenburg, Schwertleite in Die Walküre in Zurich, Ulrica in Bonn, Carmen in Prague and Riga, Dalila in Tbilisi and Jezibaba in Osnabrück.
