Martín Barcelona
He holds a Professional Diploma in Classical Singing from the Juan Crisóstomo de Arriaga Conservatory in Bilbao and furthered his musical training with a Master’s degree at the Trinity College of London.
Since 2006 he has been an active member of the Coro de Ópera de Bilbao (ABAO), where he has taken part in more than ninety productions and performed several small solo roles. In parallel, he has built an active career as a soloist in concerts and in opera, zarzuela and musical theatre productions, performing works such as Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, Mozart’s Bastián y Bastiana and Don Giovanni, Guridi’s El caserío, Mozart’s Requiem, and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar, among others.
He combines his artistic activity with teaching, offering vocal technique and singing classes at Abanto Musika Eskola, the Escuela de Música y Artes Escénicas ARTEBI (Bilbao), the Escuela de Teatro BAI (Barakaldo), and the Estudio de Canto Martín Barcelona. He is also a soloist with the classical ensemble Bilbao Bel Canto and a member of the vocal quartet Bilbao Mapa Mundi, with whom he performs regularly.As a choral conductor, he has led projects such as Fekoor Canto, formed by people with physical disabilities in Bizkaia, and the Agrupación Coral de Zierbena.
