Leila Fteita
Italian set and costume designer Leila Fteita trained at the Accademia Albertina di Belle Arti in Turin and began her career as assistant to Mauro Pagano. She has collaborated with leading figures such as Ezio Frigerio, Dante Ferretti, Gae Aulenti, Hugo De Ana and Peter Stein, building a distinguished career in opera, theatre and ballet on major international stages. She made her debut as set designer at Teatro alla Scala in 1992 with La bottega fantastica and has since worked with institutions including La Scala, Piccolo Teatro di Milano, Teatro Regio di Turin, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro San Carlo di Naples, Teatro dell’Opera di Rome, the Puccini Festival and Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa. Alongside her artistic activity, she has pursued an important teaching career and has been a member of the faculty of the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala since 2022. In 2022 she was awarded the Premio Abbiati for her set and costume designs for Prokofiev’s The Gambler at the Martina Franca Festival.
