Daniela Barcellona

Born in Trieste, Daniela Barcellona studied music and singing under Alessandro Vitiello. She made her breakthrough in 1999 as Tancredi at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, launching an international career that established her as one of the leading interpreters of Rossini repertoire and trouser roles worldwide. A recipient of the Premio Abbiati, she has collaborated with renowned conductors including Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, Riccardo Muti, Riccardo Chailly and Antonio Pappano, and worked with stage directors such as David McVicar, Robert Carsen, Luca Ronconi, Damiano Michieletto and Mario Martone. She has appeared at major opera houses including Teatro alla Scala, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Staatsoper Unter den Linden in Berlin, Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Rossini Opera Festival. Her extensive concert activity features landmark performances of Verdi’s Requiem and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with leading international orchestras. Her awards include the International Opera Award, the Rossini d’Oro and the Olivier Award.
