Rafael Quirant *
Born in Valencia, Rafael Quirant is a sopranist and the great-grandson of the celebrated soprano Carmen Tur Melchor. In 2021 he won first prize at the Juventudes Musicales de España Singing Competition and has since developed a career focused especially on the Baroque repertoire, while also performing bel canto, Spanish song and oratorio. He has worked with artists including Juan de la Rubia, Xavier Sabata, Núria Rial and María Espada, among others. Recent highlights include his appearance at the Peralada Festival in Johann Adolf Hasse’s oratorio Sanctus Petrus et Sancta Maria Magdalena, with the ensemble Vespres d’Arnadí conducted by Dani Espasa. He has also toured Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with ADDA Simfònica and the Orfeón Donostiarra. He is a member of the Baroque ensemble Il dolce incontro and has collaborated with orchestras such as the Spanish Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra and the Valencia Orchestra. He has received masterclasses and guidance from artists including Aurelio Viribay, Carlos Chausson, Robert Expert, Nancy Fabiola Herrera, Miquel Ortega, Xavier Sabata, Isabel Rey and Mariella Devia.
