Giorgio Caoduro *

Born in Monfalcone, Italy, in 1980, Giorgio Caoduro is one of the leading Italian baritones of his generation and a recognised interpreter of the bel canto repertoire. He began his vocal studies in 1998 with soprano Cecilia Fusco and in 2000 won the 50th edition of the AsLiCo International Singing Competition. His repertoire focuses particularly on the major roles of Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini and Verdi, with a special affinity for the bel canto tradition and for a highly virtuosic vocal writing in which the legacy of basso buffo roles, figures of authority, tormented fathers and mature heroic characters converge — roles that would later find full expression in Verdi’s operas. Throughout his career he has appeared at leading international houses including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opéra national de Paris, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Regio di Torino, Staatsoper Unter den Linden Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Semperoper Dresden, Gran Teatre del Liceu, San Francisco Opera and Los Angeles Opera.
