Marko Mimica
Croatian bass-baritone Marko Mimica is one of the most distinguished soloists of his generation. A graduate of the Zagreb Academy of Music in 2011, that same year he took part in the Salzburg Festival Young Singers Project and later joined the Ensemble of Deutsche Oper Berlin from 2011 to 2016. He is a regular guest at houses including Opéra national de Paris, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro Real Madrid, Royal Opera House, Vienna State Opera, Palau de les Arts, ABAO Bilbao Opera, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Dutch National Opera, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Sydney Opera House, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Opéra Royal de Wallonie, Teatro Colón, Teatro di San Carlo, Deutsche Oper Berlin and Semperoper Dresden. In the 2025/26 season he made his Opéra de Lyon debut as the four villains in Les contes d’Hoffmann, returned to Opéra Royal de Wallonie as Alfonso d’Este in Lucrezia Borgia, and sang Ferrando in Il trovatore at Teatro Real, Wurm in Luisa Miller at the Vienna State Opera, Assur in Semiramide at the Liceu and King Marke in Tristan und Isolde in Málaga. He has worked with conductors including Gianandrea Noseda, Donald Runnicles, Daniel Oren, Michele Mariotti, Riccardo Frizza, Francesco Ivan Ciampa and Roberto Abbado, and with stage directors such as Robert Carsen, Claus Guth, Willy Decker, Christof Loy, Calixto Bieito, Damiano Michieletto and Emma Dante.
