“Opera and +” launches its eleventh edition

The “Opera and +” humanisation programme, jointly designed by professionals from Cruces University Hospital (OSI EEC) and ABAO Bilbao Opera, is launching its eleventh edition in connection with the 74th Season 2025–2026. The programme is developed as a social, educational, and cultural intervention, using opera as a tool for inclusion and personal development.

Since its launch in 2005, “Opera and +” has accompanied more than 7,000 patients, family members, and healthcare professionals, who have taken part in nearly 350 activities both inside and outside the hospital. These activities have been delivered by experts in pedagogy and music across eleven care units: Neonatal Unit, Paediatrics, Hospital School, Nephrology, Day Hospital, Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit, Internal Medicine, Pulmonology, Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Palliative Care.

This social programme also benefits from the support and collaboration of “la Caixa” Foundation, Zabalgarbi, Gondra Barandiarán Foundation, and Orona Foundation.
