Born in Philadelphia and trained at the Academy of Vocal Arts, he came to national attention in 2007 when he made his Metropolitan Opera debut at the age of 26. Since then he has forged a distinguished international career, crowned with the Richard Tucker Award in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has sung at many of the world\u2019s major opera houses: Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Wiener Staatsoper, Op\u00e9ra National de Paris, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Bayerische Staatsoper, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Washington National Opera, Bolshoi Theatre, Arena di Verona, Semperoper Dresden, Hamburgische Staatsoper, and at festivals including Salzburg, Bregenz and Glyndebourne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the 2024\/25 season he returns to the Metropolitan Opera as the Duke of Mantua (<em>Rigoletto<\/em>) and Greenhorn (<em>Moby Dick<\/em>), sings Rom\u00e9o (<em>Rom\u00e9o et Juliette<\/em>) in Zurich, and takes on the title role in <em>Don Carlo<\/em> in Munich. On the concert platform he collaborates with Michael Tilson Thomas in Beethoven\u2019s <em>Ninth Symphony<\/em> in Houston, performs with Kristine Opolais in Mexico, and gives recitals with pianist Anthony Manoli for Arizona Opera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recent successes include <em>Carmen<\/em> at the Bayerische Staatsoper, <em>La boh\u00e8me<\/em> at the Met \u2014 where he celebrated his 100th performance \u2014, Verdi\u2019s <em>Requiem<\/em> in Zurich, and his debut as Cavaradossi in <em>Tosca<\/em> in the United States and Taiwan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":2487,"template":"","class_list":["post-3024","artist","type-artist","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.6 -
