{"id":2947,"date":"2025-11-17T18:37:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T17:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abao.org\/artista\/gillen-mungia\/"},"modified":"2026-02-03T17:16:29","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T16:16:29","slug":"gillen-mungia","status":"publish","type":"artist","link":"https:\/\/www.abao.org\/en\/artista\/gillen-mungia\/","title":{"rendered":"Gillen Mungia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The tenor Gillen Mungu\u00eda has trained at prestigious academies and opera schools such as Opera(e)Studio in Tenerife, the AsLiCo Academy of the Teatro Sociale di Como, the Scuola dell\u2019Opera of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, and the Workshop on Donizettian vocal style at the Donizetti Festival, organised in collaboration with the Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Conservatory of Bergamo. He has worked with leading figures including Teresa Berganza, Mariella Devia, Luciana Serra, Roberto Aronica, Chris Merritt, Renato Bruson and Alberto Zedda, having begun his studies with Elisabetta Tandura and Simone Savina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the roles he has already performed are Werther, with which he appeared at the theatres of Opera Lombardia and the Teatro Verdi in Pisa after winning the 71st AsLiCo International Singing Competition; Alfredo in <em>La traviata<\/em>; Rodolfo in <em>La boh\u00e8me<\/em>; Tebaldo in <em>I Capuleti e i Montecchi<\/em>; Hoffmann in <em>Les contes d\u2019Hoffmann<\/em>; Rafael in <em>El Gato Mont\u00e9s<\/em>; and Nemorino in <em>L\u2019elisir d\u2019amore<\/em>. He has covered Roberto Devereux at the Teatro Regio di Parma, Warney in <em>Il Castello di Kenilworth<\/em> at the Donizetti Festival, and Werther in the theatres of Modena, Ferrara and Reggio Emilia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has recorded the albums <em>Lexia<\/em> and <em>Gabon Kantak<\/em> with the Sony label, as well as <em>Mirentxu<\/em> by Guridi. Recent engagements include <em>Tristan und Isolde<\/em> at ABAO Bilbao Opera, <em>Die Fledermaus<\/em> at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, <em>Le maschere<\/em> at the Wexford Festival, <em>La rondine<\/em> in Verona, <em>Manon<\/em> in Tenerife and <em>Don Giovanni<\/em> in Cortina, in addition to several productions in Trieste. Future projects include <em>La boh\u00e8me<\/em> in Granada, <em>Amaya<\/em> by Guridi at the San Sebasti\u00e1n Festival, and <em>Carmen<\/em> at the Gran Teatre del Liceu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":5635,"template":"","class_list":["post-2947","artist","type-artist","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.5 -
