Luzia Tietze *
German mezzo-soprano Luzia Tietze began her professional career as a member of the International Opera Studio of Oper Köln from 2020 to 2023. After two seasons as a freelance artist, she has been a member of the ensemble of Staatstheater Cottbus since the 2025/26 season. In Cottbus she has made role debuts as Fenena in Nabucco, the Fox in The Cunning Little Vixen and Suzuki in Madama Butterfly, and has also appeared as Lieselein in Zemlinsky’s Kleider machen Leute and as a soloist in Helmut Oehring’s contemporary opera Aschemond oder The Fairy Queen, in a production by Sebastian Baumgarten. In the 2024/25 season she sang Tisbe in La cenerentola and Mercedes in Carmen at Theater Hagen, and returned to Oper Köln for Kaija Saariaho’s La Passion de Simone. In the 2023/24 season she made her Spanish debut at Palau de les Arts Valencia as the Governess in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades, conducted by James Gaffigan, and later sang Third Lady in Die Zauberflöte. Trained at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, she won First Prize at the International Opera Competition Triomphe de l’Art in Brussels.
