Manel Esteve
Born in Barcelona in 1978, Manel Esteve studied music at the Municipal Conservatoire and singing with his father, baritone Vicenç Esteve. He furthered his training with artists including Jaume Aragall, Joan Pons, Bonaldo Giaiotti, Eduard Giménez, Carlos Chausson and Rolando Panerai, and has received awards at the Pedro Lavirgen and Manuel Ausensi international competitions. In 1999 he made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu as Uberto in La serva padrona, and the following year sang Papageno in La petita flauta màgica. Since then he has built a solid career at theatres and festivals including the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro Real Madrid, Teatro de la Zarzuela, Palau de la Música Catalana, ABAO Bilbao Opera, Teatro de la Maestranza, Ópera de Oviedo, Palau de les Arts, Teatro Arriaga, the San Sebastián Music Fortnight and the Castell de Peralada Festival. He has worked with conductors such as Renato Palumbo, Víctor Pablo Pérez, Sebastian Weigle, Josep Pons, Paolo Carignani, Michele Mariotti, Ivor Bolton, Giampaolo Bisanti, Riccardo Frizza and Giacomo Sagripanti, and with stage directors including Emilio Sagi, Terry Gilliam, Christof Loy, Giancarlo del Monaco, Laurent Pelly, Mario Gas, Olivier Py, Deborah Warner, David McVicar, Richard Jones and Damiano Michieletto. His repertoire includes works by Rossini, Donizetti, Mozart, Puccini, Massenet, Giordano, Britten, Offenbach and Pergolesi, as well as zarzuela.
