Pablo Ruiz
The baritone Pablo Ruiz, from Huelva, graduated in classical singing from the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid. He refined his studies at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, Italy, with Maestro Alberto Zedda, and at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena with Renato Bruson.
Winner of the ASLICO competition at the Teatro Sociale in Como in 2015, he made his debut at the Ópera de Tenerife as Dandini in Rossini’s La Cenerentola. His most significant operatic engagements include Il viaggio a Reims by Rossini at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in the role of Don Profondo; at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow as Lord Sidney; and Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Leipzig Opera, Cologne Opera, Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, as well as at the Teatro Rossini in Pesaro, Teatro delle Muse in Ancona and the theatre in Udine.
He has also performed Dandini in La Cenerentola at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Teatro del Giglio in Lucca, Teatro Dante Alighieri in Ravenna, Teatro Rendano in Cosenza and at the Luglio Musicale Festival in Trapani, Sicily. He has also sung the role of Alidoro at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari.
He has performed the role of Bartolo in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège, Opéra de Marseille, the National Theatre in Lima, Toulon Opera and Teatro delle Muse in Ancona; and Taddeo in L’italiana in Algeri at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest.
He has sung the title role in Donizetti’s Don Pasquale at the Nouvelle Opéra de Fribourg in Switzerland, the Teatro Verdi in Trieste and the Teatre Principal in Mallorca; and the role of Malatesta at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, Teatro Sociale in Como, Teatro Fraschini in Pavia, Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona and Teatro Pergolesi in Jesi.
He has performed Dulcamara in Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love at Cologne Opera, Opera Las Palmas, Toulon Opera and the Baluarte Auditorium in Pamplona, as well as the role of Belcore with ABAO at the Palacio Euskalduna in Bilbao. He has also performed Gasparo in Donizetti’s Rita at the Konzerthaus in Berlin.
His Mozart roles include Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro at Oviedo Opera; Leporello in Don Giovanni at Toulon Opera; Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte at the Staatstheater Mainz; and Papageno in The Magic Flute at Ópera de Tenerife.
He has performed in Bizet’s Carmen, debuting the role of Escamillo at the Teatro Lirico in Cagliari and at the Teatro Grande in Brescia, Cremona, Como and Pavia. In Puccini’s La bohème he has sung Marcello at the Teatro Sociale in Rovigo and Schaunard at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and at the Opera of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He has also appeared in Turandot at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville and in Dialogues des Carmélites by Francis Poulenc at the Palacio de Festivales in Santander.
